Trail Maintenance Training Day – Priest Gulch – Saturday, June 8th

SJTR and Rico Trails Alliance will be partnering with the Dolores district for a trail maintenance training day. We will meet at the Priest Gulch trail head, Saturday June 8th at 9am. This will be a non riding day focusing on skills and trail maintenance. 

Be sure to come prepared:

Wear long pants and work boots

Sun Screen

Water

Long sleeve shirt

Rain jacket

Lunch

Snacks

Work gloves

Hat

During this event, the following topics will be covered: Pre-work Group Briefings
-How to sign in group members to the volunteer agreement on the spot
-Safety Briefings
-Accident / Evac Plans

Routine maintenance task demonstrations
-Maintenance of water bars / Rolling dips / misc. Drainage features
-Brushing
-Tread Maintenance – When to remove the berm, the ½ rule etc..

Directions from Dolores, Colorado: PRIEST GULCH SHUTTLE DROP-OFF: Go 25 miles north of Dolores on Colorado Hwy 145 (12 miles south of Rico). Look for Priest Gulch Trailhead sign on west side of the road across from Priest Gulch Store. Turn left and go .25 mile past private property. Stay on the road and do not trespass. Trailhead has parking and horse facilities.
